In our culture, we are obsessed with "Kinetic Energy"—the energy of motion. We applaud the hustle, the launch, the visible sprint, and the noise. If we can’t see it moving, we assume nothing is happening.
But in physics, the most powerful state often looks like stillness. It is called Potential Energy. It is the arrow pulled back against the bowstring, holding massive power just before release. It is the star gathering density before it ignites.
I am currently in a season of "Potential Energy."
I am waiting for my new book, The Day I Was Remembered, to go live on Amazon. I am navigating the daily realities of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), which often demands that I stop moving physically. To the outside observer, it might look like a pause.
But this morning, I checked my data. While I was resting for the last two weeks, my Pinterest engagement jumped. While I was waiting for the book button to turn green, the search engines were already indexing my cover design as #1.
The work was happening, even when I wasn't "working.
The Spiritual Physics of Rest
This concept isn't just scientific; it’s biblical. There is a profound comfort in knowing that growth does not always require our constant manipulation.
"The kingdom of God is like a man who throws seed on the ground; and he goes to bed at night and gets up every day, and [meanwhile] the seed sprouts and grows; how [it does this], he does not know." — Mark 4:26-27 (AMP)
The farmer’s job was to cast the seed. It was not his job to pull the sprout out of the ground. His rest was actually an act of trust.
The CEO Perspective
As the "Somatic CEO," my executive decision today is to respect the invisible momentum.
The Stoic philosopher Epictetus reminds us: "No great thing is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer you that there must be time. Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen."
If you are in a waiting room today—waiting for a diagnosis, a job offer, a healing breakthrough, or a launch button—remember this:
Silence is not stagnation. Rest is not quitting. Waiting is not wasting.
Your life is gathering Potential Energy. Trust the physics of the pause.
